The Senior Electrical Product Engineer is a SME in all areas related to NPI and enhancement product design, integration, test and roll out to manufacturing. The Senior Electrical Product Engineer works cooperatively with Product Management, Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain and is responsible to deliver new product designs into realization. You are a systems thinker with a track record of building successful hardware products. Problem solving, hands-on approach, strong technical intuition, safety/quality prioritization, teamwork, and effective communication are the main skills required to be successful in this job. You are innovative and capable of easily translating your ideas and others into commercial designs that customers value.


Your impact as a Senior Electrical Product Engineer:


  • Be the SME in our electrical designs and work closely with Product Management to translate product requirements into detailed engineering requirements, build proof of concepts, plan and deliver product releases as per our go to market product roadmaps.
  • Develops engineering design models, wiring schematics, component selection and qualification and test plans to verify electrical, environmental and functional compliance of the design to its specification.
  • Work cross functionally with other team members, has primary responsibility for product design and enhancements, build quality and cost.
  • Continuously improving engineering methodologies, workflow and procedures of our product development lifecycle.
  • Provide problem solving of electrical issues on new product development and work with field support to resolve.
  • Create and drive new product launches, customer pilot programs and product field trials.
  • Create and manage engineering change orders, updates to product BOMs, coordinate ECNs and releases to manufacturing.
  • Develop standardized design criteria across product lines and propose DFM improvement solutions and recommendations to improve efficiency, reduce cost and improve quality.
  • Estimate costs, production assembly times and project resources for new designs.
  • Well versed with UL/CSA electrical equipment safety compliance standards and certification programs
  • Well versed on RCA and carry out periodical process review to identify the root cause of deficiencies and ensuring corrective action takes place to eliminate the root cause.
  • Participate in improving manufacturing assembly times, product build costs and evaluating lower cost supplier offerings.


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a strong focus on power systems and controls as your field of study.
  • 5+ years working as an Electrical Engineer in a hardware engineering and manufacturing setting.
  • Development of products with battery power systems (chargers, inverters, etc.) is highly desired.
  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) experience is highly desired.
  • New product introduction (NPI) experience is highly desired.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members.
  • Able to manage several projects at once and prioritize one’s workload.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% (both domestic and international)


Location: 

  • This is a role working out of our Vancouver, BC office; however, we will consider candidates from abroad who are willing to relocate to Vancouver at their own expense.
